This photograph was taken from my hotel in Alexandria Virginia of the Washington Monument. I like the reflections from the buildings and the various shapes that complement the monument.

Washington DC at sunset
I spent the first part of the week in Washington DC on business. I took this picture from my hotel in Alexandria as the sun was setting. The sun sets so early now that I have only a short amount of time to take pictures after work before it is too dark.

Albuquerque From the Hills above
This week I went to Albuquerque New Mexico for business. I had dinner at a restaurant that is located at the base of the Albuquerque Tram. Unfortunately, I got there later than I would have liked for a good sunset photograph. This photograph was mostly taken in the last bit of twilight. It was taken with a Nikon D3, which is very good in low light conditions so I was able to at least get an available light photograph from the setting sun. The foreground is illuminated by the lights of the tram’s parking lot.

Daylight savings time went away today so sunset came fairly early here. I was working on my boat and finished up just in time to take a sunset photograph of the Seattle skyline from the Elliot Bay Marina. I know that it is hard to see at this resolution, but you should look for the fellow at the top of his mast working on his VHF antenna.

Seattle the Emerald City
I’ll start the blog with a photograph from where I live. This is Seattle at sunset from Kerry Park. It is the iconic image of Seattle with the Space Needle as the dominate element and Mt. Rainer in the background. It was taken on a clear day in early September.
Seattle is sometimes called the Emerald City. I think of it as in the Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz. I have titled the picture Oz.
